I respect the tremendous courage it takes to call and ask for help from someone you have never met other than by a photo and a couple of paragraphs. It can feel overwhelming to think of speaking of very private stories of suffering, fears and conflicts. Often I hear that patients have tried everything that has helped in the past when life has been tough but no longer offers relief. It can be very frightening to know your life is not where you want it to be and yet you do not know how to get back on track. Sometimes people come to me with very few ideas of what is wrong. I find it most helpful to intentionally listen to peoples personal understanding of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, especially those that seem to keep people stuck. My interests have always been the intersection of the mind body connection and the often overwhelming psychological impact of the inevitable stressors in life. Therapy and psychiatric treatment can be very hard work but at the same time our connection can offer some respite from all the difficulties. I take the pain and confusion that people experience very seriously and I also know that through my many years of working with people that as they re-discover how to heal themselves the work becomes much lighter and enjoyable.

Jennifer received her initial nursing training in Australia and moved to the US 30 years ago to continue her nursing practice. Her initial focus was caring for oncology and AIDS patients both in the acute hospital setting and in hospice and home care. Her passion for this work came from wittnessing that the emotional anxiety and strain of managing a chronic illness was rarely addressed in the medical setting. Transitioning to mental health, Jennifer graduated from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She has worked in community mental health clinics, academic psychiatry and her own private practice providing individual therapy and medication management. In addition to clinical practice she has over three decades of teaching experience with the graduate level psychiatric NP students, teaching them the skills to provide compassionate ethical care to those suffering from a wide variety of psychiatric disorders. Jennifer is a graduate of the St. Louis Psychoanalytic Institute and has extensive training in individual and group therapeutic modalities and in psychoanalysis.
Jennifer will speak with each new client prior to scheduling an appointment and during this call she will gain an understanding of the presenting concern and discuss the scheduling process.

Currently, I am taking private pay only. I plan to be on the panels of Premera and Regence soon. Please keep in mind you may be able to use out of network insurance benefits. I advise that you contact your insurance carrier to confirm I am an out of network provider and if so, I will provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance.
